They Might Be Giants Hartford Concert reviews
Great show but terrible start
I attended the show with my daughters on Saturday, 12/6. The area was packed with people viewing the tree, and it had been raining for several hours. We arrived 30 minutes early at They Might Be Giants, only to find a line that ran over to 5th avenue, up to 51st street, then around the corner on 52st, much to my dismay. People were very annoyed that a line this long would exist so close to the show start, both those on line and those trying to find the end of the line. We didn't get in the doors until just after 2:00, missing the beginning scene with the 3-D glasses. My youngest daughter was so upset. I'm not sure why such a line existed that close to the show, but it caused us to be late and miss the beginning. This event is not new for They Might Be Giants, and I can't understand why they couldn't get ticket holders in more quickly than they did. One other grievance is the cost of refreshments -- I understand charging higher prices given the venue, but popcorn and cotton candy were over $20. Isn't there a way to make your profit without bankrupting the people already paying a fortune to attend the show? I expect better from such an establishment. I'm not sure I will be returning next year.
